Nick and I were up far too early to head to the Mesa Gateway airport for our flight to Provo. When we arrived in Provo, we enter our rental car fiasco (I wrote our full fiasco as a Google Review, hoping to dissuade people from every renting from Budget again). The short story is that Budget's computer system was down, and so we stood in line for over an hour while the worker took everyone's information by hand and called the credit card company to verify our transaction. By the grace of God, we were the last people to actually get our rental car on time--the people behind us in line had to wait an hour for a car to come down from SLC and, as I later found out on the Google Review, missed the wedding they had flown in to attend.
Needless to say, we feel truly grateful that our plans went off without a hitch, as we drove our rental car up to Orem to have lunch with the bride to be, Brent, and Alicia. After a fun lunch catching up, Nick and I headed up to Pleasant Grove to meet Mike and Karen Benner, two of my favorite people who graciously allowed us to stay in their home. We visited, and I immediately got my cuddles in with Jinx and Oscar. After walking Oscar around the block, we got ready for the big moment, Sharae's wedding!
We headed to the Provo City Center temple for the beautiful sealing, where I cried lol We took pictures and then headed North to the reception in Orem.
We had a blast being goofy with Brent and Alicia, Nick won the bet for how many Taylor Swift songs would be played at the wedding (Share's husband Luis is obsessed with T. Swift haha).
The next morning, after taking Oscar for a morning jaunt, we drove down to Provo for the best breakfast food: kolaches. They were thoroughly enjoyed on a bench on Center Street before heading to the BYU Bookstore, where the best husband in the whole wide world bought his joyous wife a beautiful dress that was on sale!
Afterwards, we went on a beautiful hike up Stewart Falls. I had attempted to hike this spot once before in early March with a dear friend, Karina, but we got lost in the snow and had a pretty treacherous time. Nick and I's was MUCH different in the beautiful, August weather. The trail was easy to find and navigate with the occasional passerby to reassure us that we were headed in the right direction!
The Falls are definitely worth the hike! Beautiful! Nick and I enjoyed sitting down for a good rest and basking in their coolness before heading on the return.
After some R & R and much needed showers, we headed over to J-Dawg for dinner (YUMMM) and then to the Provo City Center temple to do initiatories. It was crazy to me that the celestial room actually smelled like smoke from the forest fires burning South of Provo and from all the crazy inversion. No trip to Provo would be complete without some BYU Creamery ice cream afterwards and taking mint brownies home to enjoy!
We always have a great time in Provo, and this time certainly was no different! Congratulation to the new Mr. and Mrs. Gonzalez!!!
