In Part 3 of the series of John comes to Phoenix, Nick and Kaylyn take John down South to Rocky Point, Mexico.
Nick and Kaylyn had been down to Rocky Point two years before, and had wanted to go back when the weather was warmer. They knew this would be the perfect opportunity, to take John and enjoy some R & R on the beach. They drove down, crossing the border with ease and heading to Las Conchas, a private community that N & K had stayed in before. After getting settled and eating some much needed food, they went down to the beach right away. It was definitely much warmer than when N & K had previously come down in November. We were only out in the sun for a short time before we needed to head back in to the shade.
We ate at a restaurant that we had been to on our previous visit, La Curva, and ate the most delicious food--fresh juice, Mexican platter, and delicious fried ice cream. We were also serenaded by some traveling guitarists. We played a riveting game of Monopoly afterwards, that K, unfortunately, did not win.
The next morning, we headed into the city for some street shopping and the classic picture in front of the Rocky Point sign. After finding a backpack for John and some earrings for K, we headed to a restaurant that Nick wanted to try. We ended up driving all over creation (with no GPS due to being in Mexico) and finally found it...only to find it closed haha We ended up at some average cantina for some average food.
We then headed back for some more fun at the beach. K went boogie boarding for the first time--which was super fun...until K got nailed with salt water in the eyes (she didn't particularly enjoy that).
After freshening up, we went back to the same delicious Mexican platter, but were sadly, too full for the fried ice cream. We then enjoyed Kaylyn's favorite part about Mexico: the sunset on the water. Absolutely stunning <3 We played some more board games (Bang) and Kaylyn turned in early because she was getting a cold by this point.
The next morning, the crew was ready to head home due to the hot weather and a sick Kaylyn. But boy, were we grateful that we went! John loved it, and so did we! Las Conchas/Rocky Point will always hold a special place in our hearts, particularly for Nick and Kaylyn, because it is where they fell in love <3
