A Grain of Gratitude Day 2

April 6, 2012

Jesus Christ was born. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was organized 182 years ago. Who I am today is a result of both of these wonderful events.

Today was an amazing day.

I woke up at 8:30, only to look out the window and shout "Excuse me!" Ashley, my roommate, agreed that the weather was being inappropriate.

Ladies and gentlemen, two days before Easter, we had snow in Provo.

The "Happy Easter" window cling just makes the snow so much more ironic. Still, snow is beautiful...even in April :)

I had literally buried my coat int the back of my closet two days ago. Pulled it back out to brave the wintery weather :D

Then a miracle happened. I had just started off walking to the temple when Sharae and Shontai drove by. I have amazing friends. Sharae had pulled over into a nearby parking lot to wait for me to reach her and then drive me to the temple. I was SO touched by this great act of kindness, and am so blessed to have such an amazing friend, roommate, and China traveling buddy. Congratulations to Sharae for being accepted by ILP to teach in China, and thank you SO much for going out of your way to drive me to the temple :)

The temple was absolutely amazing. Like always. I just hope the flowers don't die from the sudden chill!

Satan will try to tempt us in any way possible. And he knows it's the little things that bother me the most. I lost my hat (the white knit one in the above photo). I'm sure it's somewhere in Sharae's car...or on temple grounds. I'm not so upset about losing the hat as I am about how losing things makes me feel. Every time I lose something, forget something, or don't properly prepare for something, I feel like I'm letting myself down. Satan knows that, and tries to make me doubt myself and the Lord when I lose tangible objects. Silly, I know, but something to remember so that I don't let it bring me down. I hope I can learn from this experience (however small)...and find my hat :)

Talked to dad. Lunch. Comparative Literature. Watched Concert Choir perform in the HFAC. Gym. And...

I DECLARED TWO OF MY MINORS!

Hopefully, my "major" crisis is over. After meeting with two academic advisers, praying, thinking, pondering, and praying some more, I have changed my major. And added three minors. I will be able to complete school by Winter 2015, my expected graduation date. So..

Major: English Language
Minors: Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), Communications, and editing

Hopefully, I won't change my mind again :) I feel like this is the right path I should be taking, and look forward to gaining real world experience in these areas through internships, working for Student Journals, and tutoring English learners at Provo High School.

To top off a productive day, I had an absolutely fun and fabulous night with the most amazing boyfriend in the entire world :)

Not only did I find Joseph at the door, but Joseph with a beautiful flower (a daisy, which are my favorite!)

We started off date night by going to Brick Oven Pizza. And then sheer and utter excitement ensued when my sandwich came with none other than a M & M chocolate chip cookie. They are seriously my favorite, and I haven't had one in years! SO yummy! :)

We had a little time before going to the BYU Ballroom Team Concert, so we were able to take a few great pictures of the BYU atmosphere. SO gorgeous.

Going to college in the Wasatch Mountain front. NBD.

Sunset from the Marriott Center

The Ballroom Dance Company was absolutely incredible! So many wonderful numbers, excellent choreography, beautiful costumes, excellent technique, and such a wonderful Spirit. SO grateful we were able to attend!

Walking out the Marriott Center, Joseph realized we were headed the wrong direction to get back to the car. Upon realizing this, he spun around and yelled "I parked the car the other way!" It was quite amusing, and the people walking beside us got quite a laugh out of it as well.

Finished off the night with a half hour at the Helaman Dance (which was quite fun, except when you live in Wyview, you don't know many people from Helaman) and some delicious frozen yogurt from Sub Zero.

The Lord blesses me in SO many ways, from the big things right down to the little things. My life is a product of His love, and I want that love to help me to testify that He lives. Day 1. Absolutely fabulous
