The Best Homemade Roll Recipe

So, this recipe isn't actually from my grandmother, it's actually from one of my friend's family's. Thanks to Joseph and his mom for their generosity in sharing this awesome recipe! This roll recipe is a regular for my Easter's and Thanksgiving's now. Seriously. It's SO good. You should try it. 


Lawrence Family Roll Recipe


Scald 1 quart of milk with 2 cubes butter in Microwave.
Add ¾ cup cold milk after scalding. Add: I scant Tbls salt 1 Cup Sugar 5 Cups Flour 4 Eggs 3 scant Tbls dry yeast


Beat with mixer until smooth. Then stirring with a wooden spoon, add another 4-6 cups flour. Let rise until double, stir down, then let rise until double again.


Roll out on floured surface. For rolls, cut, let rise again, then bake at 400 degrees for 12- 15 min.


For Danish Coffee Cakes, spread with butter, add sugar. cut to fit pans that have been buttered. Add brown sugar w/dab of butter to center. Let rise again. Bake at 400 for 12 to 15 minutes.


For orange rolls, roll out on floured surface. Spread on melted butter, sugar, and finely grated orange rind. Roll dough up, slice and put into muffin tins. Let rise l5 minutes- then bake at 400 for 12 to 15 minutes.


Cinnamon Rolls: Roll out on floured surface, spread with melted butter. sugar. cinnamon, and raisins if desired. Roll dough up, slice and put on buttered pan. Let rise to double, bake at 400 for 12 to 15 minutes.


Cinnamon Roll Icing Recipe


-2 ounces softened
-7 Tbsp softened butter
-1/2 tsp vanilla extract
-2 Tbsp milk
-1 ½ cup powdered sugar
-1/4 tsp salt


Beat together the cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer in a large bowl until creamy. Mix in the vanilla and milk, then gradually mix in the confectioners' sugar and salt until smooth and fluffy.
