Destination: Nauvoo, Illinois

Hello everyone! If you're like us, we just got done yesterday binge watching Stranger Things haha

I am valiantly catching up with our Summer 2016 Road Trip Series, this time talking about our trip to Nauvoo, Illinois. Nauvoo is a small city located about 4 hours south of Chicago. Nauvoo is a famous city for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after church members were forced to flee across the Mississippi River after being exterminated from Missouri. Today, the LDS church owns many of the homes and land in the city where members used to live.

Additionally, a half hour North lies the city of Carthage, where Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum Smith were killed. I had been twice, but Nick hand't yet been. We knew that we could not miss Nauvoo during our cross-country adventures!

We started first in Carthage, touring the Carthage Jail, where Joseph and Hyrum were killed.

We then spent two days in Nauvoo. We enjoyed touring the homes and seeing the shows. What a beautiful city, with the best people under the sun!
