Valentine's Day 2018

I am currently taking a break from writing a Literature Review. My husband and I are both home on a "mental health" day to work on Graduate school assignments. But I wanted to be more timely in my posts and share about the fabulous Valentine's Day we had yesterday!

First off, teenagers are hilarious. When students would walk in with candy or gifts for each other, I would take them, thank them profusely for being so thoughtful, and go to put them on my desk. They would look at me like I was crazy; "but Ms., that's not for you, that's for my girlfriend." I would fake reprimand them about not getting me anything, and then give them their gift back. In pity, a few students did give me small pieces of candy from their collections :D One sweet student (the same that got me a wonderful Christmas present) bought me the cutest chocolate dog! She's the best!

When I came home, I found beautiful daisies (some of my favorite flowers) on the table. Nick wanted to open presents right away, and I couldn't refuse him. I got him some Reese's and a new 2 player board game. Side note: we are obsessed with board games, particularly those for two players that require a lot of strategy and thinking. I will do a blog post in the near future reviewing some of our favorite board games! Anyway, I bought Nick Lost Cities, which on a lot of board game review blogs, has been listed as one of the best. We played toward the end of the night and had a great time! The game requires a great deal of strategy, and despite both of us playing poorly, Nick still won :D

Nick got me the new Dan Brown book, Origin, the next in the Robert Langdon series. Love these books! So excited to read it! As well, he got me a new rose gold metal band for my fitbit. And Reese's. We both love Reese's haha

Side note: I think this card is hilarious and so true :D The cards we picked out for each other very much fit our personalities!

We at Buca di Beppo in Scottsdale for dinner--we have decided that we are going to start 2 Valentine's Day traditions after today: 1) we are going to eat Italian food on Valentine's Day and 2) we are going to watch our wedding video.

Here's to a day celebrating love--love for friends, for family, for life, and for any significant others. I love my husband so much, and am so grateful that we got to celebrate together. We are praying for all of the families, friends, and loved ones affected by the shooting in Broward County, Florida. This world could really use some more love--love, love, it's all you need <3
