Horseback Riding

Putting a stop to my Cross Country Road Trip posts to talk about such a fun date night that Nick & I had before we left in June. We went horseback riding! I had never been before--Nick had. We found the most amazing Groupon and headed out at Spurr Cross Stables in Cave  Creek. We had some yummy homemade chili before meeting our horses and getting into the saddle. The ride was at sunset, which are SO beautiful in Arizona. At first, I felt like I was sure to fall off--being on a horse is quite different than riding in a car :D Once we got out of the traffic jam of the stables, I felt much steadier! We rode with one other couple and two teenage girls. Our guide was very friendly and very knowledgable--he told us about the area, told us more about the horses, and took us to an abandoned gold mine in the Arizona desert. The horses knew the trail well, and barely needed to be steered at all to keep them on their path. Our ride was 45 minutes, which was perfect, because I was definitely sore the next day! We are definitely planning on riding again, and would highly recommend this stable as a great place to go in the Arizona area!
