Destination: Four Corners National Monument

The first of our Summer 2017 Cross Country road trip travel posts, Nick and I began our road trip by visiting Four Corners National Monument. Located in the middle of nowhere, Four Corners is located about 6 hours from Phoenix, serving as the intersection of the borders of Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. I have had this remote stop on my bucket list since moving to Utah, and was thrilled that it was convenient to Moab, Utah (2 hours), our second stop!

Four Corners is located on tribal land, and is owned by the Navajo Nation. We drove onto the property, and entered a large area with a large metal circle on the ground: the Four Corners monument. Surrounding this area were 15-20 artisans selling handmade jewelry, dream catchers, pottery, t-shirts, and much more. There are several vantage points from which to take pictures, including an overlook from each of the four states. Everyone took turns taking pictures, and Nick and I enjoyed being in four different states while holding hands :D

After seeing the monument area, we visited each of the local artisans, where I walked away with the most beautifully crafted dream catcher earrings and a beautiful sand art tile that is now displayed in our home :)
