And with a day in bed, I've had a lot of time to think. The conclusion I've come to: I am so blessed. Really, I have been given so many wonderful opportunities, experiences, people, and activities in my life. What's really struck me though is just how important and grateful I am for the simple things, the moments and the things that matter most.
- The gorgeous mountains that grace BYU's campus. The way the sun hits them at sunset, reflecting off of them to create a picturesque scene. The smell of flowers as you walk across campus, the green grass, and the sunlight hitting the Y. Cool breezes, warm sunshine, and crisp leaves falling from the trees.
- Technology. At the touch of a button, having access to our own personal worlds on our laptops, cell phones that allow us to communicate with those we love through text message or phone call. Being able to transmit voices over wires, and images over bandwidth. Having a laptop that works (super grateful for this one since it didn't do that summer term) that gives me access to my photos, music, documents, and life. Movies and music that provide us entertainment and help us feel the Spirit, describe our mood and our feelings, and help us have a good laugh.
- Health, energy, and strength. I never realized until I haven't had the strength to stand up for the psst 24 hours just how awesome it is that our bodies can do everything that they do. I am able to do so much and go, go, go with energy and strength. I have never been so grateful that my body can continually do all that I need it to every day.
- People. People really are the most important. And I have been blessed with SO many wonderful people in my life that love me. Really, I cannot express my gratitude for the things that others do for me. This is why I want to give my life in service, because so many people have served me. Dave and Mike came over to give me a blessing in matching ties. My roommates have been so sweet taking care of the apartment. Christina came and brought me lunch from Zupa's. And my loving parents have been willing to talk and keep me company from a thousand miles away.
- The gospel of Jesus Christ. No matter where we are or what we are doing, Jesus Christ is always there and hears and answers prayers. He has blessed me SO much by simply being there, and having the Spirit to bring peace and comfort.
