Holy Cow, It's Finals Week!

Hello everyone! I am SO sorry that I haven't written for so long, but I've been lucky to make it through the last week of semester push. These past few days have been absolutely incredible; I've had so many awesome experiences that have definitely helped me to become a better person even in just three short days.

Thursday was the last day of classes for Fall Semester- Wohoo! In my Geography class, we sampled different foods from around the world- I had baklava, coco flan (flan with chocolate cake that when cooked in steam, switches layers), fried bananas, and the traditional potato and egg dish from Spain. All the food was super yummy, and Sister Knapp finished off class by discussing the spread of the Church across the world. The Spirit was very strong, and I had the distinct impression and warm feeling of peace that I am making the right decision by traveling to China next January. I am scared out of my mind, but I need to go and be a light in a country where the doors have not been opened up for the gospel. "And the gospel shall be preached unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people" kept coming to mind. Even though I can't proselyte, I can still preach the gospel through my example. After all, as Brother Merrill says, they can't take the light out my eyes.

This week it's been rather cold in Provo, so I've resorted to the layering method of clothing myself- wearing a cami, t-shirt, sweater, and scarf every single day this week. Who knew that it would be colder in P-town then in good old Ohio!

After Geography on Thursday, I had my last Book of Mormon class. SO sad! I will miss Brother Merrill SO much, so thank goodness I'm taking him again next semester! Each week before class, a group of us would gather in the stairwell an hour before class, and talk about everything under the sun. I really enjoyed our stairwell parties throughout the semester, and am going to miss many of the kids I had in both my Comparative Literature and Book of Mormon classes with- Josh, Reesa, Brad, Jessica, Stacy, Claralynn...that's only a few. It's so crazy to think that each semester of college is so different than the rest- so exciting, but unfortunate when you don't get to see friends you've made from semester to semester.

Band was over, so I was able to just come home and...start studying. I really didn't get any studying done because I followed my mother's motto "People are the most important." I had an amazing talk with one of my very close friends, and even got sandwiches and cookies at the Ward Sandwich Party!

Friday was truly a trying day. I woke up at 8:30 to make it to the Cannon Center by 9:30 for a job interview. I need a job SO badly for Winter Semester, mainly because I want to pay my own way entirely when I go to China. There were lots of people there, but I had a good resume and my interviewer was super easy. Plus, I could work the shifts they really needed! But there's one major problem in all of this- in order to work for Winter Semester, I would be starting January 3rd. I'll be flying home to P-Town that day, and there is absolutely NO way I'll make it home for my first shift. I find out later today if 1. I'm hired and 2. if I get fired because I can't show up to the first day of work. I am using this as an opportunity to show my faith in Heavenly Father, remembering that because this is through no fault of my own, he will make everything work out exactly how He wants it. Maybe I'm not supposed to be working in the Cannon Center after all...

My second trial of faith came when I was studying for Comparative Lit. and my laptop overheated and completely froze. Thanks to Cameron, I actually figured out that I should press the power button to turn it off. It restarted without any issues, but now I'm definitely going to be more careful and make sure that my laptop doesn't get to hot. I use my laptop SO much-especially when studying, that I really can't lose it!

Speaking of studying: Monday I take Comparative LIterature, Tuesday- Geography, Wednesday- COmmunications, Thursday- Writing and Book of Mormon. We also have a cleaning check on Thursday night. Wohoo! :p

I could not have ended my Friday better though- Joseph and I went to the temple. It is truly amazing how even when you step on temple grounds, there is an immediate peace and comfort. The temple is a place of refuge, and I am so grateful that I have had the time every week this semester to enter its walls. We got blizzards at DQ- Candy Cane is super yummy! and doughnuts at the MPB. They were Krispy Kreme, my absolute favorite! Alas, it's 10:30 now and time to hit the books! i have a LOT of material to review for CMLIT, and unfortunately, it's probably going to take all day. I'll push through because tonight, I'm going caroling at a nursing home with members from my ward. It should be awesome, as long as none fo the residents actually hear me sing :D

Oh, one more thing- I would just like to send a special thank you to my mom for getting my the Finals Survival Kit. It's absolutely precious- a BYU drawstring bag filled with snacks, pens and pencils, stickie notes, a water bottle, and best of all, a fleece BYU blanket that's actually super nice. It's kept me warm and cozy in our freezing cold apartment (or sauna-like, it can't pick a temperature). Thanks mom!!

7 more days- Ohio, here I come!
