We loved seeing all of the beautiful lights around the city, like this big tree right in front of the AMC Movie Theater in Tempe. On December 16th, Nick and I headed into Tempe to watch The Forgotten Carols at the Gammage Theater. We had the best time! The Forgotten Carols is a musical written by Michael Mclean. I was introduced to the music on my LDS mission, when I came upon the cd in one of my apartments. I loved the songs, particularly the theme "Three Kings Found the Lord and so can we." I was able to see the show first in Utah two years ago, but wanted Nick to see it. It certainly put us in the Christmas spirit!
Nick and I had the privilige of serving to help set up our ward Christmas party. The party looked absolutely beautiful! So blessed to have been able to go, even if only for a few hours!
The week before we left for Florida, Nick and I got a call from our ward mission leader asking if we would be willing to go caroling. Nick was less than excited, but seeing as how we were having the sister missionaries over for dinner right before hand, we were obligated to go. Little did we know that we would be riding on a Christmas FLOAT to go caroling! Nick's attitude totally changed as we began singing songs of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. It was so fun to see children (and adults) run outside when the saw the float riding by (or they heard the tractor engine). While our singing may have been less than perfect, I felt the warm spirit of Christmas fill my heart.
And lastly, I got to be an elf. After all, I'm not just short, I'm elf sized! I was also so blessed to have recieved such sweet presents from my students, particularly one sweet student that almost made me cry.
Nick and I also had a wonderful time celebrating our first Christmas as a married couple. We went out to dinner, visited the Mesa Christmas Lights, and then opened up our presents. We are so blessed <3
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
