During my searches for fun things to do down here in Phoenix, I happened upon free admission the second Tuesday of every month to the Desert Botanical Gardens, located just outside of Papago Park and the Phoenix Zoo. When something is free, why not give it a go!
We ventured out to the Gardens mistakenly during the hottest part of the day, but were able to keep cool under our hats, downing our water bottles, and stopping in the shade.
We all thought the gardens were pretty, but were definitely something that we were glad we hadn't paid the regular admission fee of $22. We all thought it was incredible how so many variety of plants can thrive in the harsh desert environment in which we now reside. The Gardens have a lot of cool programs, particularly in the Spring, that would be fun to check out, especially the Flashlight Garden tour to see the plants/animal life at night.
