Jumping into January

From the moment that I stepped off the plane at the SLC airport, I knew that this was going to be a great last semester as an undergraduate.

When Dallis picked me up at the airport, she told me that she had a surprise for me. We wove through various streets and neighborhoods as we drove south toward Provo, while all the while, I was racking my brain trying to figure out where we could be going. When we arrived at an unknown house in Sandy, I became even more confused. My joy could not have been more full, however, to see my dear companion Natalie from Arizona standing in front of me. SO grateful to these two dear mission friends for all they do for me!

This semester, we have a new roommate: Alayna! We were really excited to have her join us, as well as our honorary roommate, Michelle.

Our first Sunday back, we threw a not-so-surprise party for Koa. He had us figured out from the very start but at least we tried valiently to surprise him. When he finally showed up to his party, we all had a great time. What a goober :D

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jesse and I paid tribute to all those who gave so much during the Civil Rights movement by participating in BYU's Candlelight walk. We've also been blessed with a lot of snow this January, and we like to celebrate the presence of this white powder every chance that we get.

Other fun happenings include my participation in a Mock Trial at BYU's Law School as a mock witness and my monthly date with Michelle to Zeke's Pie Shake Parlour for pie shakes and country swing dancing.

Our ward was blessed with a very special temple trip this month, where we had the opportunity to attend the Provo temple together and then have delicious food together afterwards at Brick Oven Pizza. I have been richly blessed by being a part of such a strong, loving, and Christ-centered ward.

So...speaking of pizza, our apartment has been wanting to order pizza for months. We found the perfect excuse with the 203rd anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. We celebrated with Little Ceasar's, the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, and some of the best movie quotes on our bathroom mirrors :D

Of course, our 5 hours of snow-play on our Snow Day were a highlight of the month. Such a great time with friends and the snow.

The culminating event of January would have to be the opportunity that I had to twice attend the Provo City Center temple open house. The Provo City Center temple will be dedicated in March, and how I love this temple already! I am pretty sure this is the closest that I will ever live to a temple, which is approximately 1 mile from our apartment. I live 1 mile away from a temple of the Lord--how blessed!

And finally, Sage and I made an incredibly rough and embarrassing video for our Sociology Markets and Society class. It's all about the difference between mainstream and behavioral economics, told through the story of buying Sage's wedding dress. You can check if out if you so desire here.
